The Department of Defence engaged Thinc to act as project manager and contract administrator for the $80m redevelopment of Gallipoli Army Base, Enoggera.
Creating efficiencies through integrated design was a key aim of the project, which centred on constructing a new mess for 1,050 Defence personnel to replace eight individual messes on the base. This combined mess can be upgraded in the future if the base population increases.
Other elements of the project were the construction of a new office complex for HQ7 Brigade and the expansion of infrastructure to service new buildings at the site. The redevelopment will ensure suitable facilities are in place for the intake of Defence personnel under the Single LEAP program. Thinc’s team had overall responsibility for ensuring that all of Defence’s objectives were achieved; this included detailed consultations with a complex group of stakeholders and users. The project was procured using the Managing Contract method.
